Weekend Lookbook: July 7th - July 9th
Weekends are meant for living and relaxing. Finding a balance is by far the hardest part. On this week’s Weekend LookBook, we try to master both.
FRIDAY
Some days you need a glass of wine to get you through the day, other days you need a glass of wine and a good blow dry to conquer the day. I’m sure you can all relate to that feeling of returning from vacation, it’s like you need a vacation from your vacation. After hearing nothing but good things from Cherry Blow Dry Bar in Coral Gables, I made my way there. Wendy was my stylist and she was phenomenal. I highly recommend her and if it’s your first time you get your blow out for $35!
By now you know my Friday drill, Happy Hour followed by dinner. This week we decided to spice it up a bit after having my best friend Jennifer in town from New York. Jennifer was looking for a fun place that would play all kinds of music, but was also a comfortable environment (none of us like feeling like there’s no room to dance). Alas… Copper 29! If you follow me on Instagram, you know I frequent the spot. My husband, friends, and I love how close it is to our house and how they truly play all kinds of genre (even though our favorite time is when the play latin music-- LOL).
SATURDAY
After partying into the late hours, we were pleasantly awaken by my in-laws who truly believe that the early bird catches the worm. They had come to visit us to help us clean out the backyard. Our backyard is our little jungle, it is completely covered in greenery and serves as our fence between our neighbors. However, even the wildest mane needs a little taming every now and then. So that’s exactly what they did, they went to the garden and began to remove all the dead palm leaves and give some of the palm trees a little “haircut.” Honestly, we are so thankful for their hard work—it is not easy to work in 100° weather!
Here are a little before and after photos:
SUNDAY
My practice is located right next to the best coffee house in Coral Gables, Tinta y Café! If you have not been, GO! Their ‘café con leche’ is my favorite thing to order. Having them right next door is some days a blessing and other days not so much (like on Weight Watcher weigh-in days-- hahaha)… but who can resist homemade Cuban 'pastelitos.’ My love affair with Tinta y Café is so real, that I have even been there on a Sunday to get ‘cafecito’ only to find out and remember they are closed on Sundays. NOT ANYMORE… while it is not Tinta y Café, Sansara, a new pop-up restaurant started by Sachi Statz and Andres Vega, is using the space to recreate Cuban brunch.

After missing out on their soft-opening due to vacationing in Palm Beach last Sunday, we knew we could not miss out on their grand opening! Sergio and I went with our friends and we pretty much ordered the entire menu… let’s just say we can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. As my friend Jose said, “same time and place next week.”
Everything was ate was delicious and picturesque. We have to give 5 stars for food and presentation! Order the croqueta cake benedict... you will thank me later. And remember it's 5 o'clock somewhere, so be sure to order their watermelon lavender mimosa... yum and refreshing!
Here are a couple of the dishes ordered:
Croqueta Cake Benedict
Huevos Fritos and Maduro Hash
Camarones Enchilados and Grits
Tomato Confit Toast
Cafe con Leche Pan Perdu
Make sure to call and make reservations (305-432-4661) in advance, space is limited! Just remember you heard all about its greatness, here first!
After brunch, we all need a little nap (oops… I mean activity). Yes, resist the nap and go for some outdoor fun! Well… here’s my 28 year old confession, I don’t know how to ride a bike. Yup, the daughter of a guy who is obsessed with his bicycle does not know how to ride one. I just never learned other than with training wheels.
So what inspired me to learn now? Well let’s just say that I had a dream where Sergio and I were biking around our neighborhood heading back home from the farmer’s market with our one day child trailing behind us (no I don’t remember what my child look liked, and yes I do remember the gender, but I’ll keep that to myself). It was something that I could truly see us doing one day, and I could not help but feel lame that I didn’t know how to ride a bike. Thank goodness for friends, who realized how serious I was about learning how to ride a bike.
CitiBike has installed hundreds of bikes around the City of Miami and so renting a bike was the easiest option. We headed down towards the Vizcaya area and began to practice. Was I scared? Yes! Do I have balance coordination? Umm… no! Did I master biking? NOT YET! That’s right, I’m not giving up! As a matter of fact, I’m so serious that I’m even considering purchasing a bike to practice on a daily basis till I master it. The truth is that, it’s just something I would love to be able to do (but don’t worry, I will not be like the jerky bike riders that do not abide to traffic laws, I’ll be the nice kind).
Lastly, CitiBike when are you planning to arrive in the Gables? We need your amazing service here to promote more bike riding!
Love always,
Jenni
