Weekend Lookbook: July 14-16
"You know what I want to do? Wake up one weekend and not have to go anywhere and do nothing." Derek Jeter While I may sympathize with Jeter (and I know my husband would 100% agree), I feel we choose to keep our weekends busy (of course unless you work) because we like it and it reminds us to live and enjoy.
FRIDAY
How many of you YELP restaurants nearby when you truthfully have no clue where to go eat? At times my friends and I can spend easily 30 minutes wondering where we are going for dinner. This Friday, was no exception. So we did what we know best, use YELP and find someplace nearby with great reviews (and appetizing pictures). Welcome Seven Dials in Coral Gables! This is a British pub tucked between Douglas and Ponce de Leon. The owners are British and you can find a variety of beers and traditional plates. Many of their dishes are also Indian inspired, such as the Seafood Curry. But if you are in the mood for real fish and chips... this place has an amazing dish served with pickled cabbage.
But of course, we are always reminded that we live in South Florida and not Great Britain, and so for dessert we opted for the mango mousse served alongside shortbread. Super light and flavorful!
SATURDAY
Talk about living a Teenage Dream... my 12 year old cousin is turning 13 in a couple of weeks. She asked for "light" makeup for her birthday. I was so happy and honored when her mom told her that I should be the one to take her makeup shopping. And I mean... when you are a makeup lover like me, there's never a day you don't NEED to go to Sephora. To make it an even nicer experience we opted to go to the Sephora at Brickell City Centre (I'll be honest the one at Merrick Park is a little better and less crowded). Here is my tips for teenage makeup: Always go light. These teens have their whole life to use funky colors or buy orange lipstick (like the one my little cousin liked), but the truth is that every age has a stage. So enjoy your youth and try to use makeup simply to enhance your beautiful attributes!
We opted for concealer, blush, nude/peach lipstick, eyebrow pencil, and eye shadows. I tried to convince her to use some mascara, but when she saw how much bigger her lashes looked, she freaked out (I just looked at her with minor jealousy... I mean I wish I had those lashes). I'm sure the "I don't wear mascara or eyeliner" stage will change, but without pressuring we moved on to the items she felt comfortable with. I think she'll be a makeup pro in no time!
My cousin Emi asked me not to share the final picture, but let me put it this way, she looks all grown up and even more pretty! She was just too shy to share it! Let's see how long that stage lasts... haha!
After our makeup tutorial day, Sergio and I spent our Saturday evening trying to finally decided on our kitchen cabinet hardware. We found some a great deal and options on Rejuvenation. We can't wait to share more pictures when it arrives!
SUNDAY
The last time I got my headshots done, I was in the beginning of my losing weight process. Many friends said it was time to update them, and so I recruited the services of my amazing cousin Freddy from Visually Blessed to help with the shoot. He did such an incredible job and I can't wait to pick my favorites. Here are some behind the scenes shots.
The best part of my photo shoot was doing it all in the comfort of my home all while wearing leggings and sandals... lol!
After the photo shoot, came time to practice on the bike. I was so serious when I said last week that I wanted to learn. I even went and got myself a bike that was for my height. And look... I'm getting there!! I have not mastered it yet but I'm slowly riding on my own... now to learn how to stay straight, turn, and brake! I'm so happy to see how biking is becoming such a fun activity for all of us!
Love always,
Jenni
