Room Reveal- Victoria’s Nursery

You guys... our little girl is finally here! I cannot wait to share more with you all about our sweet baby Victoria.

In the meantime, we want to share with you our labor of love... her nursery. It’s by far the happiest and most peaceful room in our home. Before Victoria’s arrival I would just love sitting in there and imagine what it be like to see her in her room.

So without further ado... TADA (room details at the end of the post)!

We wanted Victoria’s room to be a space that was airy, classic, and girly. Our goal was to create a room with a decor that could be used for a baby, toddler, and hopefully teenager (but that may just be wishful thinking). LOL. After searching and searching, I was finally inspired by the nursery designed by Monika Hibbs for her daughter Lillya (pictured below).

When we first started decorating, I was set and obsessed with the wallpaper shown above. Since our walls were textured, we knew that if we wanted to use wallpaper we were going to have to smooth the walls out. After getting a quote of over $700 to smooth out our walls, Mr. Marques found a YouTube video that showed just how to do it. I'm not going to lie... I was nervous but we both agreed that if it didn't come out well, then we'd use a professional. Well ladies and gents, it came out good enough and what a relief to save that money! Here's a link to the video used by Sergio.

After skimming the walls, Sergio worked on adding a chair rail and wainscoting to the room. I cannot stress enough how fancy this little detail makes ANY room... I secretly want to do this to the entire house. It's also not an expensive thing to add to the room... the material was less than $200. I must admit, cutting the wood trims at an angle is the hardest part... luckily Mr. Marques knows how to use a miter saw, but here is where contacting a carpenter can come in handy.

We also worked on revamping little Miss Victoria’s closet... but stay tuned for a full closet overhaul on the blog! It is simply adorable... and she definitely has more clothes than us!

The last major project for the room were decorating/painting the walls. Remember that wallpaper we loved, well when push came to shove I couldn't get myself to buy it. To be honest, I found it a bit too pricey (approximately $500 A WALL... talk about $2000 just for wallpaper!). I also wanted something more unique and a bit less busy... hence say hello to Chalk and Brush! Both my sister and friend, Vicki convinced me that instead of putting up wallpaper (which by the way is a major project and can be a headache to install and uninstall) to hire a mural artist. BOY... I am so happy I listened to them and contacted Cinthia and Ben from Chalk and Brush. They came to our home and in about two hours created the prettiest design for our baby girl. We are beyond obsessed... there is nothing like it and it is exactly what I wanted in the perfect shades! If you want to do something unique for a room... consider hiring a muralist they will totally transform any space!

As you can see, nesting hit me hard! LOL. This has truly been the most exciting time for us and decorating was a way to help time pass as we awaited Victoria's arrival. Want to know what has been the best part of the nursery? Sharing it with her!
